Hi, I’m Ted

I’m curious by nature, which has led me to explore a lot of different interests over the years, from fly fishing to flying. But I’m not one to go in unprepared, which is why I learned to swim before I went fishing and why I started skydiving before I flew a plane. It’s always good to have a backup plan.

I’m fascinated by psychology and how design can play a key role in our decision-making process. For years I was putting the same practices that are the foundations of UX in my daily work life. When I found out UX was a career path, I jumped in with both feet.

In a past life, I was a wildland firefighter, spending most of my summers staying warm by the fire. In the winters, I managed assets and databases for the Department of Natural Resources. Every task, every operation, every process, was in need of an improvement for the end user, with an emphasis on more efficient workflows, that was my job in a nutshell. I created new processes, data tracking operations, infographics, and a lot more. Everything I did was centered around the end user and required research to back it up. I like to think this was where I got my start as a UX designer.
